Another state-of-the-art and certified playground is enjoyed by young Athenians in Metaxourgeio.

The Municipality of Athens, taking advantage of the successful “Adopt Your City” program and with its valuable donation Onassis Foundationhas created a new, safe recreation spot for children of all ages, in an effort to meet their vital need for places to play and have fun.

The new playground – 31st in a row delivered in the last three years by the Municipality of Athens – has an area of approximately 400 sq.m. and is just a “breath away” from Avdi Square and the Municipal Gallery of the Municipality of Athens.

It is a beautiful, safe and functional “destination” for children, but also for the whole family, in which a long play route has been created with many branches, so that each child or his group can choose – according to their age – the type of activity.

A special area for toddlers was designed in the playground, while all the toys and instruments have been placed on a cast safety floor. The complete and modern equipment that the space has, enables the little guests to spend carefree moments of relaxation and play.

The new playground instruments make up a small “forest” in the heart of the urban area: multi-complex tree houses (with uneven towers, slide, wind stairs, bridge, climbing), musical storytelling balls, spring toys, balance instruments, four-seater spring see-saw, interactive boards for learning numbers and practicing logic, two-seater swings and a swing-nest for toddlers.

Playground

“Our goal is for every little Athenian to have a modern and safe playground within a ten-minute walk from home. Today we took the 31st step! We thank the Onassis Foundation for the valuable contribution”, said the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis.

The new playground has been fully equipped according to modern safety standards.
