The aim is more efficient coordination between ministries, agencies and social partners at national and European level
National coordinator for the implementation of the recommendation for access to quality long-term care, appointed the general secretary of Social Policy and Combating Poverty, George Stamatis, by decision of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis.
As stated in a related announcement, the appointment of a national coordinator is part of the implementation of the recommendation adopted by the Council of Ministers of Employment and Social Policy of the European Union to improve access to affordable and high-quality long-term care for the citizens of the member states that have it need. This involves trying to balance the supply of long-term care services with the corresponding needs.
At the same time, the need to establish quality standards, institutionalized arrangements for providers of care and support services for those employed in long-term care is promoted, while improving professionalism and working conditions.
The aim is more efficient coordination between ministries, agencies and social partners at national and European level, in order to promote the policies and measures that are necessary to be adopted.
EU Member States are invited to inform the Commission by June 2024 of the series of measures they are going to take, based on the strategies they have drawn up or are planning, with the aim of improving long-term care services and, in particular, in relation to by implementing the recommendation.
