For the second day in a row submits at the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki the medical examiner Leda – Kalliopi Kovatsis with the examination of which continues the trial of the 12 defendants for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends.

After Alki’s bloody clothes and the sickle which were shown convincingly in court yesterday, during the examination of the witness – medical examiner, it was shown today carabiner knife that was used in the murderous attack, to determine if it is identical to injuries found on the lower limbs of the deceased student.

The witness testified that the specific weapon is compatible with a wound on the 19-year-old’s left thigh, which – according to the forensic findings – was “frivolous”. Regarding the fatal blow to Alki’s right thigh, already yesterday Mrs. Kovatsi stated that it is not compatible with either the “karabit” or the scythe.

Simulation experiments in Forensic Science of AUTH

The “karabit” (turned knife) was at the center of the proceedings during the questioning of the witness from the defense of the 9th accused who was allegedly holding it at the time of the brutal attack.

In fact, Mrs. Kovatsi revealed that at the Forensic Laboratory of the AUTH there were “simulation experiments with the same karabit on pork”, as she mentioned, in order to establish what kind of injuries this particular weapon can inflict, in an attempt to draw conclusions and compare with forensics findings on the body of the 19-year-old.

The reaction of Alki’s mother

During the specific questions, there was a reaction from Alki’s mother, who addressed the defense and said “you got it, that’s what you wanted, wasn’t it?”

Asked about the deception of the perpetrators, the witness replied: “when someone walks around like a “lobster”, I believe that he is not going for a petty fight”, while repeating that in the recent cases fan violences that they employed her forensically, the victims have injuries on their legs and head, estimating that there is a “school” from behind. “My problem is that they aim with headshots. This amounts to homicidal intent. The brain is the headquarters of the human body, it is the most sensitive point,” he pointed out.

The trial continues with the examination of the same witness.
