What was decided on the restart of trains and suburban

It is recalled that on Monday (20/3) the Coordinating Center for Railway Safety met on the measures for the safe passage of trains. According to the final decisions, the trains will run at different times of the night in order to avoid the possibility of them crossing at points where the line is single-tracked.

At the same time, it was decided to have two train drivers on all train and suburban routes, at least one attendant, while there will be two station masters, in stations where until now, there was only one.

On InterCity Athens – Thessaloniki routes, the number of attendants increases from two to three. In addition, the speed is reduced in sections that are not covered by signaling

The issue of fire safety and fire detection in tunnels, radio communications and lighting in tunnels were also discussed.

At the same time, the trains will run at different times at night so that there is no possibility of them crossing at points where the line is single-tracked. As in the Oinoi – Tithorea section where remote control works are being carried out.

It also reduces speed in sections not covered by signalling.

-80 km in suburban/commercial vehicles
-100 km on passenger trains
