“For 20 days, the Mitsotakis government has been doing everything to avoid taking responsibility for the tragic accident in Tempi. At first the station master is to blame, then we are all to blame, so no one in particular, now the criminal code of 2019 is allegedly also to blame” said the head of the Justice Department of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Theofilos Xanthopoulos.

“The Minister of Justice, Mr. Tsiaras, announced that he will provide for a life sentence for the crime of theft of railway equipment if death can result from it,” notes the SYRIZA MP. And he adds:

“However, it deliberately hides that the movement of railway facilities caused by such theft, as well as the damage and destruction it entails, is punishable by life imprisonment when several people die as of June 2019 with the new Criminal Code.

“So, the alleged “punishments – caresses” that Mr. Tsiaras talked about are only in his imagination. As a Doctor it is reasonable for him to ignore the Criminal Law.

“But let’s stop the cheap communication tricks on the backs of the people who are grieving and on the backs of an entire society that is asking for the truth.”
