The new “household basket”, which was called the “godfather’s basket”, was presented today by the leadership of the Ministry of Development and, as it was emphasized, will come into force from next Wednesday, March 29 in view of Easter.

“It is similar to the initiative we took during the Christmas holidays with the “Santa Claus basket”. For the Easter festive period, the equivalent will be from next week the “godfathers’ basket”, which will include a series of games at really better prices, but also the basics that in our own tradition the godfathers usually – for this reason we call it that – they give as gifts this time of year” initially noted the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis.

The 12 categories that will be included in the “godfather’s basket”

The general secretary of Trade and Consumer Protection Sotiris Anagnostopoulos said that the “godfather’s basket” will include 12 categories of products. These include ‘toy Easter candles, which is the most important part of the toy market this season and is very important for everyone with nieces and nephews, christenings and so on to find at cheaper prices, as is this possible, this kind of products, board puzzles, doll toys, dollhouses and other accessories, baby toys, action figures, construction and creation toys, vehicles and remote control, electronic toys for stores that primarily sell electronic toys, sports toys , stuffed animals, musical toys and chocolate eggs or similar’.

The list of product categories that will be included in the “godfather’s basket”:

  • Easter candles – toys
  • Board / puzzles, doll games
  • Dollhouses and other accessories (pretend play)
  • Baby toys
  • Action figures
  • Construction and building games (eg brick games)
  • Vehicles – remote controlled
  • Electronic games
  • Sports toys (eg balls, children’s basketballs and goals)
  • A soft toy
  • Musical toys
  • Chocolate eggs and similar (optional)

Each store will participate in as many categories as possible

According to Mr. Anagnostopoulos, “every store can offer one or more of these categories. Here we do not have the classic function of the household basket where they are obliged to put all the categories, but they can put what they have. The reason why this is happening is because we are interested in the participation of very small toy shops that have a local interest.”

Adonis Georgiadis emphasized that it “worked very well as a ‘Santa’s basket’ at Christmas and we expect it to work just as well and better now, since general inflation has also gone much lower than then, in the midst of Easter . Our goal is to offer children and in general to our friends this season toys and festive Easter items at the best prices, so that no child is deprived of what is absolutely necessary to have a good time during these holidays.”
