An old man he lost his life in a wooded area of Krestana on Wednesday night, who was crushed earlier in the afternoon by a tree he was cutting.
The unfortunate man, about 70 years old, from the early afternoon was in a forest area where he was cutting down trees that had burned in last summer’s fires, behind the cemetery Krestenas.
His wife worried that the time had passed and he had not returned and she informed her neighbor to look for him.
He moved towards the area where the old man had been cutting trees for the past few days and spotted him overwhelmed from a cypress tree, just before eleven at night.
He was immediately called force from the Krestenas Fire Department that arrived together with the Police and found the unfortunate man under the cypress tree, in a position that showed that he might have tried to avoid it, he was trapped and it is estimated that he died of suffocation.
An EKAV ambulance also arrived at the scene where the rescuers together with the firefighters took the body and transported it to the Krestena hospital where the doctors declared his death.
