The trial for the double murder in Anogia Rethymnoafter 4.5 months of hearings at the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Western Crete in Chania.
In today’s statement, the defendant is expected to argue thatkilled 31-year-old Giorgis Xylouris, clouded by the image of his dead father.
The civil suit, maintains that the accused was the one who fired first, taking the life of Xylouris, who while falling fired a fireball that killed the father of the accused.
The son of the well-known lyre player and mandinadologist Lefteris Kalomiris has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance.

The tragedy that claimed the lives of two people, Lefteris Kalomiris and Lefteris Xylouris, unfolded in Anogeia, in May 2020.
It all started with a fight between Giorgos Xylouris and his son Lefteris Kalomiris. A fight over real estate disputes, over the property held by the two families. The two young men appear to be holding hands. For a moment the fight ended but after a while Giorgos Xylouris returned armed.
According to information, Lefteris Kalomiris, who was found with two bullet wounds in the chest, stepped in the middle to protect his son. The bullets found him in the chest and he fell dead.
Kalomiris’ son then picked up a gun and shot 30-year-old Giorgos Xylouris. Xylouris after a while falls dead with 7 bullet wounds in the chest.
