On May 21, the 2023 national parliamentary elections will be held in the country, in which voting is mandatory for most citizens registered in the electoral rolls.

Those non-citizens who choose to exercise their right to vote in their place of origin are then entitled to an “electoral permit”, depending on whether the work is five days or six days and the kilometers they will travel.

The electoral leave, according to ERT, is not offset against the annual paid leave, while the same provisions apply in case it becomes necessary to repeat the voting process (on the second Sunday).

For five-day weekly employees:

– Those who move to exercise their right to vote at a distance of 200-400 kilometers are granted a leave of one working day.

– Those who travel a distance of 401 kilometers or more are granted a leave of two working days, as long as they travel entirely by road, based on their responsible declaration.

– For those who move to islands, for which there is no road access, the number of days of leave granted will be examined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the distance and the special conditions of movement, without, however, the leave in these cases exceeding three working days .

– For those who move according to the above, and for them election Sunday (voting day) is a working day, this is considered a day of special leave of absence with wages, in addition to the days provided for above.

For employees working six days a week:

– Those who move to exercise their right to vote at a distance of 100-200 kilometers are granted a leave of one working day.

– To those who move at a distance of 201-400 kilometers, a leave of two working days is granted
days.

– Those who travel a distance of 401 kilometers or more are granted a three working day permit, as long as they travel entirely by road, based on their responsible declaration.

– For those who move to islands, for which there is no road access, the number of days of leave granted will be examined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the distance and the special conditions of movement, without, however, the leave in these cases exceeding three working days .
