In Thessaloniki, one of the leaders of the ring that trafficked in contraband cigarettes and even maintained a factory manufacturing contraband tobacco products, consisting of two complete production lines, was arrested today.

In the context of the ongoing investigation by the police officers of the Kilkis Security Department, regarding the case of the dismantling of a criminal organization trafficking in contraband tobacco products and the arrest of 30 people in the areas of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki (related from March 29, 2023 Press Release), he was arrested for the same case yet another native man.
This is a leading member of the criminal organization, who was identified earlier today in the area of Thessaloniki, by police officers of the Kilkis Security Department and is included in the relevant criminal case file.
The competent Customs Authorities estimate that the missing duties, taxes and other charges that the State was deprived of amount to 7,506,788 euros.
The aforementioned arrested person was taken to the Prosecutor of First Instance of Thessaloniki.
