The architect and historian of the book has passed away at the age of 80 Konstantinos Sp. Staikos.

The deceased was an architect, book historian and publisher.

His best-known works are the five-volume “History of the Library in Western Civilization”, which covers the time period from Greek and Roman antiquity to the Renaissance, after a thorough research of twelve years, his works on the ancient Greek libraries of Plato and of Aristotle, the volume “The Greek editions of Aldos Manutios and his Greek collaborators (d. 1494-1515)” and the historical research: The spiritual course of Genus with the manuscript and the printed book as a vehicle». “Daedalos” Prize of the Society of Writers 2016.

As he mentions, Kostas Staikos was born in 1943 in Athens. He studied at the School of Fine Arts and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Among his most important projects was the design and supervision of the works in the Library of the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Patmos and in the Library of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fanari.

He was responsible for the complete reconstruction of the ESIEA “Dimitris Pournaras” Library, the reconstruction of the “Ioannis Kondylakis” 7th floor, where the seminar rooms are housed, as well as the works, which are in the final stage, for the renovation of the Conference Hall ” Georgios Karantzas” on the 1st floor of the building.
