In the last few days in the city of Chalkida, a new scam has appeared on the mobile phones of many citizens
Attempts to defraud citizens in Evia are increasing, mainly via the internet with messages purportedly from banks which are of course fraud as they aim to intercept information in order to extract sums of money.
In the last few days in the city of Chalkida, a new scam has appeared on the mobile phones of many citizens, as vigilantes inform the unsuspecting recipients with a text message that their bank account has allegedly been locked and provide a link which they invite the citizen to follow and to give his personal information.
But if he does this he will have to say goodbye to his deposits as well, as this way he gives the fraudsters access to his bank account and the opportunity to… skim it.
On the occasion of this new fraud, the authorities call on citizens to be particularly careful when they receive messages of such content, of dubious origin, and in any case to contact the bank if they are not sure, in order not to fall victim to fraudsters who act in this way and they mislead the citizens.
Banks also advise that they never ask for personal information online, such as e-banking codes, passwords and usernames or card PIN numbers, so you should always be very careful about entering them online.
You should never give out personal information (eg e-Banking codes, card numbers/PINs, passwords, username) to so-called banks. Be very careful not to fall victim to this new scam that is also circulating in Chalkida.
