The ability to get one electric wheelchair of high standards that will improve their social life and everyday life, the Municipality of Athens, through the Development and Tourism Promotion Company (EATA), gives to our uninsured fellow citizens with mobility disabilities.
Until Thursday, April 20interested parties who meet the criteria can submit the relevant application in order to obtain the appropriate wheelchair:
Depending on the needs, children’s wheelchairs are offered, as well as simple or scooter-type motorized wheelchairs, light or reinforced.
In his statement, the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, he emphasized: “We want a city in which everyone will have equal access and can move autonomously in public space. These wheelchairs are a minimal contribution to the improvement of the daily life of people with disabilities who do not have the possibility to acquire their own, so that they can move on the streets of Athens”.
The conditions
The action for the provision of electric and children’s wheelchairs to uninsured people with disabilities gives the opportunity to participate to residents of the Municipality of Athens, with a certified (in force) mobility disability rate of more than 67%. Priority will be given to people facing financial difficulties.
After submitting the applications, EATA will decide on the beneficiaries, based on the following criteria:
- Disability property of a potential beneficiary with a mobility disability rate of more than 67%.
- Locality of potential beneficiary (resident of the Municipality of Athens).
- Property of uninsured.
- Medical opinion on the type of wheelchair that meets the individual mobility needs of the beneficiary.
- Annual per capita family income up to 9,360 euros.
- Annual household income per capita (from lowest to highest).
Applicants should submit a completed and signed application for participation and the attached supporting documents, using the Information System of the Open Social Net act through the website athens.opensocialnet.gr.
Alternatively, by submitting a sealed envelope to the protocol EATA SA, at the address Eheliden 19 & Piraeus 144, P.O. 118 54, 1st Floor (Protocol Office – Serafion of the Municipality of Athens). In the file, the indication “Giving electric and children’s wheelchairs to uninsured Disabled Persons with a disability rate of more than 67%, residents of the Municipality of Athens” must be written.
It is noted that any other way of submitting the applications and/or the attached participation and selection documents automatically renders the nomination invalid.

The deadline for submitting nominations-files for participation is April 20, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
Clarifications for the conditions of the Invitation are provided exclusively through the e-mail address of the act [email protected] where interested parties can submit related questions up to three working days before the end of the final submission.
Please note that wheelchairs are available until the project budget is exhausted.
