An attempt to buy off relatives of the victims and injured of the Tempe tragedy, complains the advocate of victims’ families, Loukas Apostolidis.

In his statement, Mr. Apostolidis, who tomorrow Tuesday at 12 noon, will visit the appellant investigator in Larissa, in order to request the speeding up of the proceedings and the administration of justice, emphasizes:

Respect for the dead and wounded, the tragedy of Tempe, requires sensitivity and, above all, humanity. Human life has no exchangeable value. Pain and sorrow are not redeemed. Nor are they treated with cynicism. How much more with immorality. As unfortunately the management of HELLENIC TRAIN seems to be doing. In its attempt to cover its responsibilities, it resorts to acts and actions aimed at dealing and buying off the relatives of the victims and the injured. Her practice is unethical, shameful and highly provocative. Ignores the elementary: Death and wounded lives are pain and suffering. The endurance of memory over time will in no way lead to the renunciation of responsibility of all the involved contributors to the national tragedy of Tempe. The natural and moral perpetrators have a name, they are known. They held specific positions of responsibility, which they defiantly ignored. Their irresponsibility, their carelessness, their incompetence, makes them accountable. Delivering justice is a vital priority. We all owe it to the dead and wounded. The institutions of the State and primarily the Greek judiciary, as well as the political system as a whole, are called upon to show the required sensitivity in order to make the non-negotiable attribution of responsibilities and to punish the guilty. Otherwise, they too will be accountable for a crime that claimed the lives of 57 of our fellow citizens, and physically and mentally injured other fellow human beings. The young men and women who were lost, constantly remind us of the need to respect their memory, eradicating tolerance, indifference and even oblivion».
