The mayor of Rethymno pointed out individual peculiarities of the intervention areas and recommended to the subcontractor to speed up the work and cause the least possible burden
Construction works of stamped and industrial floors begin immediately in Rethymno, for the safety, functionality and decency of streets and squares in the local communities of the Municipality of Rethymno, after the signing of the relevant contract by the mayor of Rethymno Giorgis Marinakis with the subcontractor.
The specific project has an initial budget of 320,000 euros and is financed by the resources of the Municipality of Rethymno, while the contractual time for the execution of the works, as long as there are no unforeseen factors, is 6 months. According to the technical study, it is planned to build stamped and industrial floors on streets and squares in the following settlements of the Municipality of Rethymno: Atsipopoulo, ‘Adele (Agia Paraskevi), Armeni, Argyroupoli, Eleftherna, Episkopi, Karoti, Kato Valsamonero, Koufi, Maroulas, Prinos , Rustica and Moutros.
The mayor of Rethymno pointed out individual particularities of the intervention areas and recommended to the contracting contractor to speed up the works and cause the least possible burden on the residents and visitors from the inconvenience that the works will inevitably cause, given that they will be carried out during the tourist season.
According to the municipal Authority, the criteria for the selection of the intervention settlements were the written and oral requests submitted to date by the presidents of the local communities to the technical service of the municipality, as well as the autopsies carried out by the Service. From the point of view of the technical service, it is clarified that in the event that other related requests or needs arise during the duration of the project contract, they will be evaluated by TYDR for their management.
In the meantime, the mayor of Rethymno, Giorgis Marinakis, in the context of the ongoing public consultation for the Rethymno Regional Development Plan, invites citizens to submit, collectively or individually, until April 30, 2023, their proposals for the Municipality’s Sustainable Urban Development Plan Rethymno. He even points out the importance of the Sustainable Urban Development Plan, speaking about the restoration of the injustice suffered by the city of Rethymno until now, since it was only in the current programming period 2021-2027 that the Municipality of Rethymno was given the opportunity to submit a BAA proposal. From the project team of the drafting of the plan and the consulting scholars, special emphasis was placed on the submission of proposals by agencies and citizens, as well as on the focus on intangible actions concerning culture, education, sports, entrepreneurship and innovation.
The vision, the central strategy and the objectives of the BBA plan for the city of Rethymno will concern 3 main spatial elements: a) the route of the neighborhoods, b) the green corridors and c) the activation of public spaces.
Also a basic condition is the fact that 30% of the resources of the SBAA should concern actions that contribute to tackling climate change and on this basis the correlation of the actions with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the Municipality of Rethymno was made.
The citizens of Rethymno can submit, until April 30, their own proposals for the Sustainable Urban Development Plan to the e-mail address: [email protected], through the relevant proposal submission form that they will find on the website of the Municipality of Rethymno: www.rethymno .gr, in which there is more information about the SVAA of our city for their more complete information.
