Students back to school on Monday: The protocols, the platform, the self tests

by

Schools of all levels open on Monday with students and teachers with enhanced health protocols and self tests for all whether they are vaccinated or not.

As there were shortages of free tests in pharmacies, with the result that some parents could not afford them, they would be able to take tests from school stocks.

Students and teachers will take three self-tests this week.

An additional self-test is provided for the first week of school operation for all students and teachers. Therefore, in the week of January 10-15, three free self tests will be performed instead of two of the students and the vaccinated teachers. This enhanced check-up should be done in the last 24 hours before school starts. At the same time, unvaccinated teachers are required to obtain a self-test at their own expense, in addition to their two regular rapid tests.

The two free weekly self-tests will now be performed not only by unvaccinated students but also by vaccinated students and teachers.

In the event of a case in the classroom, all unvaccinated students will have a free test every day for 5 days. Specifically, they will do two rapids and a self test in 5 days, in addition to the two fixed self tests per week, so 5 tests in 5 days. The vaccinated students will take a self-test, in addition to the two weekly self-tests, ie a total of three free self-tests per week.

Statements for vaccination or illness certificates or negative rapids or self-tests of students attending public schools continue to be submitted on the edupass.gov.gr platform, while statements of self-tests of students in private schools on the self-testing.gov platform. gr.

If a student is diagnosed positive, then he will be isolated for at least 5 days. Isolation will be discontinued after 5 days a) if there are no symptoms or the symptoms after five days – prominent fever – subside and b) with a negative self test. If the fever persists or there is a positive self (or rapid) test, isolation will be prolonged.

The necessary documents of the vaccinated teachers to come to the school are kept as they are. Vaccinated teachers undergo 2 free self-tests per week, up to 24 hours before school on Tuesdays and Fridays. For the first week of school operation, an additional self test is provided.
