The businessman dies at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer Theodoros Charagionis, one of the leading entrepreneurs in real estate and creator of the Hellenic Automobile Museum.
Born in Kastela of Piraeus in 1948, Theodoros Charagionis studied at Ralleio and then at the standard Ionideo School. He studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and continued his education at Harvard (urban planning) and Stanford (business administration). He was the creator of the first shopping centers in Greece.
The Haragioni Group he founded specialized in the development and long-term exploitation of commercial real estate in the center of major Greek cities, in the retail trade of luxury goods and in the establishment and management of car parks.
He was the creator of the country’s first shopping centers and it was he who brought the Gucci fashion house. He was president of the Real Estate Investment and Development Association (SEAAK) as well as president of the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) jury. He participated several times as a driver in Greek car races such as the historic Acropolis rally with Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Volvo and Porsche racing cars.
In March 2011, he founded the Hellenic Automobile Museum housed in the Athenian Capitol complex, at the junction of 3rd September and Iuliano streets.
