Today is an important day for the residents of Kefalonia, with the delivery of a state-of-the-art Emergency Department to the island’s hospital, thanks to a donation from the G. & M. Vergoti Foundation.

The government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Health, Mina Gagawhich took over this functional and state-of-the-art section of the Kefalonia hospital, which certainly gives the island’s residents a sense of security.

Today, the G & M Vergoti Foundation handed over to the Ministry of Health the new donation (budget of 1.5 million euros) regarding the complete renovation of the Emergency room and their complete equipment.

“It is a great pleasure for me to come back to Kefalonia and to see the TEP finished. I would like to thank our benefactor for this donation but also for the support to the hospital in general,” said Mrs. Gaga in her greeting, while adding that “from the government’s point of view, we have put many structures in the Recovery and Resilience Fund to upgrade many infrastructures but private donations are always important, which since the pandemic period have helped a lot”.

Finally, Mrs. Gaga wanted to thank “all the staff of the hospital who are dedicated to the work and make a huge effort, as all the units produce an important work and the people of Kefalonia understand it. We care that there is a sense of security.”
