With a bold and adventurous exterior design, the new crossover stands out for its clean lines that create an undeniably powerful and imposing presence
The Explorer is the first in a series of advanced, innovative and all-new electric vehicles from Ford, ushering in an entire era while paving the way for a complete redefinition of the brand in Europe.
Featuring a bold yet adventurous design that redefines for Europe the distinct styling heritage of an SUV, the new crossover is inextricably linked to Ford’s American roots – from the six carefully curated body colors, right down to the signature headlights and sculpted front and rear surfaces.
An American icon aimed at European customers, the new Explorer incorporates elements and concepts such as escapism and freedom of movement into its DNA for the new electric age. So the big challenge for Ford’s design team was to capture that spirit, but in a much more compact and user-friendly ‘package’ that suits the needs and demands of the European consumer.
The front of the new all-electric Ford Explorer is dominated by absolute symmetry but also clean lines, which create an undeniably bold, powerful and imposing presence that draws the eye with a “shield” design approach instead of the traditional grille. In a prominent position here is the familiar oval logo of the company, which is installed in a central position. At the same time, the friendliness of the overall design of the exterior surfaces is reflected to a great extent both by the coherence in terms of aesthetics between the front and rear of the body, and by the characteristic signature of its advanced headlights.
The Explorer’s side view exudes similar dynamism, with the cabin pulled back, reminiscent of a powerful American SUV. Also distinctive is both the black A-pillar that appears to be wrapped in glass, as well as the unique C-pillar graphic that has always been a very distinctive design element of the Ford Explorer.
With aerodynamic performance being a key consideration for the all-electric Explorer from the very early stages of its development, the design team crafted the front end with the signature air curtains located on the front bumper directing air to the wheels. At the same time, the way in which the shape of the headlights, mirrors and many other elements of the exterior surfaces were shaped further enhances the performance in terms of aerodynamics.
An interior that exudes high aesthetics, quality and warmth
The futuristic exterior design of the new Explorer is perfectly combined with a very modern and minimalist interior with high-quality materials and features, such as the sculpted sports seats with integrated headrests and the sophisticated sound bar, which is usually found in concept cars rather than family vehicles.
To achieve the perfect balance between the colors and the individual materials used, the characteristic two-tone in the cabin, combined with the shape of the dashboard and the interior of the doors, create an environment that from the first moment gives the feeling of embracing you. Overall, the interior of the Ford electric crossover creates an environment that welcomes all passengers, being stylish, sporty and at the same time extremely welcoming, exuding from the very first moment a feeling of warmth and spaciousness.
