The new Euro 7 standards proposed by the European Commission in October 2022 include a set of rules to support a greener and healthier future in the European Union
Only 10% of cars with internal combustion engines will meet the European Union’s Euro 7 standards by 2035. These standards may put additional financial pressure on consumers and greater amounts of investment for manufacturers. The average price increase for cars will be around 2,000 euros, according to the estimates of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
At the same time, in order to advance the technology of cars, which will aim to reduce emissions, there will have to be help from the governments, in order to promote the sales of cars that meet Euro7 standards.
The new Euro 7 standards proposed by the European Commission in October 2022 include a set of rules to support a greener and healthier future in the European Union. These rules will ensure that cars are cleaner in real driving conditions and will better reflect the situation in cities where air pollution problems are greatest.
However, a recent study points out that Euro 7 standards will only provide a 4% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions when they come into force from 2026 or 2027 onwards, while the environmental benefits will be few and far between. But what is certain is that they will raise the price of cars, creating financial obstacles for both consumers and car manufacturers.
