For the past 10 years overall, the Ford MustangĀ® – which is celebrating its 59th birthday – is the best-selling sports car in the world, according to Ford’s analysis of registration data from S&P Global Mobility*.

“We are proud of the entire Mustang family, what it represents at Ford, and especially the passionate Mustang owners and fans,” said Dave Bozeman, Ford Blue’s vice president of Enthusiast Vehicles and Ford Customer Service. “Our commitment to serving the global Mustang community, from Atlanta to Adelaide and beyond, is what has earned the Mustang the honor of being the world’s best-selling sports car for 10 years in total.”

According to Ford’s internal data, the United States still leads Mustang demand, accounting for 78 percent of global sales. Other markets that saw an upward trend in Mustang sales in 2022 are Germany (+17.0%), UK (+14.4%), Switzerland (+14.9%) and the Middle East, respectively with an increase of +7.4%.

The all-new, seventh-generation 2024 Ford Mustang adds another chapter to an iconic model, offering the unmistakable looks, explosive sound and unique appeal of the world’s best-selling sports car for the past decade. Whether convertible or coupe, with a V8 or 4-cylinder turbo engine and manual or automatic transmission, the Mustang offers options at multiple price and performance levels.

The Mustang gets two new engines – a 2.3-liter EcoBoost and the Mustang GT’s more powerful 5.0-liter Coyote V8. In addition, it offers an all-new function called Remote Rev, which provides the ability to rev up the engine remotely via the key fob, as well as the new, optional Electronic Drift Brake, which can quickly turn a novice into a pro of drifting, like Vaughn Gittin Jr.

The Mustang Dark Horseā„¢ expands the range as the first new performance model since the Mustang Bullitt was introduced in 2001 and aims to set a new benchmark for street and track performance. This could be nothing less than a Mustang with “menacing” looks and a specially modified 5.0-liter V8 engine – the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 ever – producing 500 horsepower.

The Mustang Mach-E Ā® SUV, the electric addition to the Mustang family, is now available in 39 countries, having recently been launched in Taiwan and Australia. Ford has produced the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E since production began nearly two years ago, a major milestone as the company ramps up EV production to a rate of 600,000 units per year by the end of 2023 and more than 2 million annually until 2026.
