Twenty-two people were arrested in three days (April 29 to May 1, 2023), by police officers in Mykonos, Rhodes, Milos and Folegandros in the context of targeted police controls to combat illegal construction.

Separate criminal files were filed against the perpetrators for illegal construction works and employment of illegal aliens, as the case may be.

Particularly:

At Mykonoswere arrested yesterday afternoon six people (4 foreigners and 2 nationals) because it was found that they were carrying out oil painting work on arbitrary buildings within a hotel business.

In Rhodesa citizen and a foreigner were arrested on April 29 because they were spotted transporting and depositing building materials on an arbitrary wooden platform in a coastal area, while at the same time it was found that a wooden walkway was being constructed in the same area.

Also, yesterday and the day before yesterday, two other citizens were arrested because they were operating a health care store in the aforementioned area, which illegally occupied parts of the shared coastal area, forest and archaeological area.

in Milos, on April 29, eight people (7 foreigners and a citizen) were arrested because it was found that they were carrying out arbitrary construction work in a pre-existing underground building (wire drilling).

In Folegandros, on April 30, four people (3 citizens and a foreigner) were arrested because it was found that they were carrying out construction work in a building under construction without a permit.

Tools and vehicles used for the illegal work were confiscated.

At the expense of the foreigners, for whom it was ascertained that they were living and working illegally, the process of returning to their country was initiated. The co-competent services were informed of the violations found.

Those arrested were taken to the local competent prosecutor’s authorities.
