MasterChef, the country’s pioneering culinary reality show, premieres its tenth season this Tuesday, the 2nd. This year, 18 amateur cooks will go to the kitchen to prepare recipes in front of judges.

The novelty of this edition is the arrival of Rodrigo Oliveira, chef from Mocotó and Balaio IMS, to compose the jury alongside chefs Helena Rizzo and Erick Jacquin. He replaces Henrique Fogaça.

Since its inception in 2014, the program has held editions with amateur and professional cooks. Since then, champions and participants have opened their own restaurants, many of them in São Paulo, or sign menus from addresses throughout the city of São Paulo.

It is the seafood version of the Churrascada meat festival. Who signs the menu is Dario Costa, third place in the first edition of the reality show for professionals and champion of the Mestre do Sabor program. The restaurant also has a fish market and two aquariums with wild oysters.

Clos Wine Bar

The winner of the first edition of the program, chef Elisa Fernandes, runs this mix of wine bar and bistro alongside her partner and husband, Guilherme Mendes, who takes care of the drinks. On the food menu there are portions such as oysters (R$36) and scallops (R$46) to accompany the wines, served in glasses for prices ranging from R$35 to R$95.

Irina’s Couscous

The typical northeastern dish is the star of the restaurant by chef Irina Cordeiro, who participated in the program’s edition for professionals. She opened her kitchen in a townhouse in Vila Madalena last year. Couscous appears in recipes from breakfast to lunch, such as the Sertão dish (R$58), which is accompanied by sun-dried meat in cream, toasted rabbit cheese, black-eyed pea salad, coriander and bottled butter.

Foglia Forneria Artigianale

The house with an Italian soul has a menu signed by chef Franco Ravioli and his son Lorenzo Ravioli, 20 years old, winner of the Junior MasterChef, in 2015. The menu includes starters to share, individual pizzas, pastas and salads. Among the recipes are suggestions such as Al Capone (R$86.39), spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce, alice, capers and black olives.

It is commanded by Rodrigo Einsfeld, participant of the first edition of the program for professionals, in 2016. He opened the restaurant in October 2021 in Casa Verde, which gained a branch in Itaim Bibi. The menu is varied and features mainly Italian dishes, such as pasta and burrata, as well as meat and fish.

The house of pokes, a Hawaiian-inspired dish that combines rice, raw fish and other complements, is headed by Ravi Leite, a competitor in the second edition with professional cooks. It is possible to assemble the bowl as you prefer, at the price of R$59, or choose the ready-made suggestions, for R$56, such as the so-called first, which has white rice, salmon, citrus sauce, avocado, mango, cucumber, coconut, gari and nori.

La Crusta Forneria

Champion of the last MasterChef Professionals, chef Diego Sacilotto opened this restaurant in the north zone of São Paulo shortly after winning the program, in November last year. The menu follows classic Italian cuisine and serves pastas, such as spaghetti carbonara and ossobuco ravioli, and individual Neapolitan-style pizzas. For dessert, tiramisu is made in the shape of macaron.

Nectar

The restaurant, which functions as a healthy fast-food restaurant, is headed by Luciane Recco, who participated in the last MasterChef of professional cooks.

Paloni Osteria

Brand new in the east side of the city, the Italian restaurant has a menu by chef Francisco Pinheiro, a finalist in the 2017 MasterChef Professionals. There, he prepares handmade pasta, such as baroa potato gnocchi, stuffed with buffalo mozzarella, pumpkin agnolotti and ravioli ricotta –which can also be ordered.

Paparoto Cucina

Chef Dayse Paparoto, winner of the first season of MasterChef Professionals in 2016, opened her first restaurant at the end of last year, after visiting Fasano. The place, in a luxury mall, has an Italian menu with authorial touches. Among the pastas are the Rotolone stuffed with Bolognese and roasted tomato, which costs R$94.

Chef Martin Casilli, a participant in the first season, is one of the partners in the gastrobar and signs the menu, with influences from Spain, France and Italy. Among the recipes he created is the terra e mar rice (R$98) with rice, Sobssada –a raw sausage made with pork– and sautéed shrimp. The drinks menu lists signature and classic cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

Tata Sushi

The Japanese restaurant is owned by chef Leo Young, the first man to win the reality show, in 2016. In the extensive menu there are combinations such as the traditional one, which costs R$ 150 for two people and includes 12 sashimi (salmon, tuna and white fish). , six sushis and six rolls.
