A key role was played by a woman who, taking advantage of the fact that she was not marked, funneled the stolen goods to pawnshops
Gang of Albanianswho committed thefts in houses in Attica, was busted on Thursday (May 4), by the Northeast Attica Security Sub-Directorate, in a special operation during which six people were arrested.
A case file was filed against the arrested persons for, as the case may be, criminal organization, distinguished cases of theft where the total value of the stolen items exceeds the amount of 120,000 euros, by profession, by complicity and by continuation, for money laundering from criminal activities, violence against employees, as well as for violating gun and drug laws.
The case file includes three other members of the criminal group, who have been identified and are wanted.
Since the police investigation they have been cleared so far 20 cases of theftof which one attempt, while the total financial benefit obtained by the criminal group is estimated by ELAS to exceed the amount of 230,000 euros.
How the gang operated
According to ELAS, the defendants, who have been operating since May 2022, initially spotted their targets the day before by pedestrians moving around them, in order to draw up a plan of action and ensure their timely escape. In the afternoon or evening hours, they approached the houses they had targeted, with a car, which was usually rented, and proceeded to break in by breaking the windows or balcony doors.
According to ELAS, the defendants did not give up their efforts even if the alarm sounded. In fact, if the loot they got from a house was important, they would “hit” it again.
It is noted that a woman played a key role in the operation of the gang, who, taking advantage of the fact that she was not marked, channeled the stolen goods to pawn shops, in order to collect the money and distribute it to the other members.
In house searches, they found and confiscated, among others: Pistol with magazine and 6 rounds of ammunition, bulletproof vest, 40 watches of well-known brands, 28 pairs of earrings, 39 rings, 9 bracelets, 36 necklaces, pendants and gold chains, 3 designer bags houses, 6,795 euros, 20 mobile phones, 3 knives, 0.7 grams of raw cannabis, 2 cars and 1 motorcycle.
The arrested, who have again employed ELAS for various crimes, are going to be taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
