The two young men (21 years old), who were arrested after a fire they caused in a ground-floor shop, in the center of Thessaloniki, were referred to the Three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki to be tried, with the automatic procedure, as a result to be trapped on the roof of the buildingfrom where they attempted to escape by jumping to nearby rooftops to avoid capture.

The prosecutor prosecuted them for eight misdemeanors and in particular the following acts: arson with possible intent, from which a danger to things arose (in series), damage to foreign property (because they destroyed the store’s security cameras), violence against police officers, disobedience, verbal abuse, attempted grievous bodily harm (because they threw stones at the police), theft (for a fire extinguisher) and illegal carrying of a weapon (just in case, as a knife was found on one).

The two defendants reported during preliminary investigation that they were at the scene doing graffiti, while the fire broke out when they used a torch to highlight their work, following a relevant method. The fire seems to have started in a tarpaulin, with the consequence that it spread to the mobile phone repair shop, which is located on Venizelou Street.

According to information, one of the two was recently arrested for damage to foreign property, because he graffitied a Police patrol car.
