On Thursday 11 and Friday 12 May, the Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal Mr Frans Timmermans will be in the Netherlands to participate in the World Hydrogen Summit 2023 and various events on innovative renewable hydrogen projects.

On Thursday, in his keynote speech at the Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, Mr Timmermans will refer to the EU’s world-leading role in hydrogen. In the afternoon, he will attend the opening of the Hydrogen Competence Center and a press conference will follow at around 14:30 Greek time. At the Competence Center, companies and organizations can share knowledge and collaborate to accelerate the transition to clean energy and boost renewable hydrogen. Following the inauguration, the Executive Vice President will engage with representatives of various stakeholders on hydrogen innovation ecosystems. He will also meet with Mr. Allard Castelein, President and CEO of the Rotterdam Port Authority, and later in the city of Schindam, he will visit the Battolyser Systems company and a prototype electrolytic cell model that can store and provide electricity, such as batteries.

On Friday, Executive Vice-President Mr. Timmermans will deliver a keynote address on the EU’s green transition at the 61st Dies natalis of the University of Twente. He will also participate in the Dutch Innovation Days, where he will discuss with researchers and students about the University’s new climate center and research projects such as new materials for batteries and solar cells, as well as parking spaces that combine photovoltaics and energy storage in one unified system.
