The society of Arta, as well as the whole of Greece, is shocked by the tragic death of the baby, who was locked in his father’s car for more than seven hours, on Tuesday morning.

The two parents are tragic figures, who have collapsed psychologically. The father, after being returned to the Arta hospital by the prosecutor yesterday afternoon, was transferred from the pulmonary ward to the psychiatric clinic, where he is being monitored.

From the evidence that has come to light regarding what he told the police, the 37-year-old appears to have described what happened on Tuesday morning: “I left the house, got a coffee, the baby was sleeping, I put him in the back seat. Until I get to daycare a phone call intervened I got absorbed in my work and instead of going to the station, I went to work,” he reportedly told police.

“I parked the car near work, locked it and left,” he said.

After his appearance before his prosecutor and after criminal charges were brought against him for fatal exposure, the 37-year-old requested and received a deadline to apologize on Friday.

His lawyer, Dimitris Lambrakis, in his statements to the journalists said that the message sent by its principal is that no human being should experience this situation. In fact, he mentioned that both the father and the 27-year-old mother tried to end their lives, as soon as they realized that their baby was not alive.

The mother is in a bad psychological state

In a very bad psychological state is the mother of the infant, who cannot accept the loss of her baby. Until yesterday, the doctors gave her medication in order to keep her calm.

Both she and the 37-year-old talk to psychiatrists who support them, as both collapsed when they were officially informed of the death of their baby by the doctors of the Artas hospital to which they transferred him.

Forensic examination

The martyr death of the infantaccording to the forensic examination, is attributed in fluid accumulation in the lung that caused pulmonary edema.

Specifically, the infant experienced suffocation, sweating, wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, difficulty breathing, hypoxia (low oxygen level), causing him to suffer pulmonary edema that led to cardiac arrest due to hypoxemia (lack of oxygen), tachycardia, and cyanosis, as reported the Sky.

The baby will be buried on Saturday, at 12 noon, and will be named Lydia – Helen.
