In 927,793 people reached the total number of registered unemployed in the register of the Public Employment Service (PYPA), in April 2023, recording a decrease of -70,529 people (-7.1%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, April 2022, and a decrease of – 107,787 people (-10.4%) compared to the previous month of March 2023, according to the registered unemployment statistics of DYPA.

Of the 927,793 people, 517,698 people (percentage 55.8%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period equal to or longer than 12 months and 410,095 (percentage 44.2%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period shorter than 12 months old.

Men they amounted to 324,979 people (percentage of 35.0%) and women amounted to 602,814 persons (percentage of 65.0%).

The 30-44 age group gathers the largest number of registrants among the age categories, which amounted to 305,630 people (a rate of 32.9%).

The secondary education level (secondary education also includes post-secondary education) gathers the largest number of enrollments among the educational levels, which amounted to 439,670 people (47.4%).

Among the Regions of the country, Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia recorded the largest number of registrants, which amounted to 309,582 people (33.4% rate) and 181,876 people (19.6% rate) respectively.

The total number of subsidized unemployed, in April 2023, (refers to the number of beneficiaries paid within the corresponding month), amounted to 55,438 people, of which 40,689 (73.4%) are general unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed and 14,749 (percentage of 26.6%) are seasonal tourist professions. Men amount to 26,553 (percentage of 47.9%) and women to 28,885 (percentage of 52.1%).

It is noted that the number of subsidized unemployed, in April 2023amounted to 55,438 people, recording a decrease of -92,627 people (-62.6%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year April 2022 and a decrease of -139,927 people (-71.6%) compared to the previous month March 2023.

Of the total number of subsidized unemployed, 37,655 (67.9% rate) are general workers, 1,102 (2% rate) are builders, 14,749 (26.6% rate) are seasonal tourist occupations, 1,767 (3.2% rate) are seasonal other (rural), 138 (percentage 0.2%) are teachers and 27 (percentage 0.0%) are other.
