From Monday 08 to Friday 19 May 2023, the Armed Forces participated in the Exercise called “SPANISH MINEX 23” organized by the Spanish Navy, and carried out in the wider area of ​​the Western Mediterranean with the participation of Naval Units of the Permanent Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group Two (SNMCMG2), Belgium, USA, Spain and Romania.

“SPANISH MINEX 2023” is of the INVITEX-LIVEX-MCMEX (Invitation to an Exercise – Live – Mine Countermeasure Exercise) type, and during it anti-mine operations were carried out under asymmetric threat in mined shallow water areas and port entrances.

The participation of the Armed Forces in “SPANISH MINEX 23” is part of the long-term planning prepared by the GHET and concerns the participation of the Armed Forces in international operational training activities, which contribute to increasing their combat capability and strengthening interoperability them in an inter-alliance context.

The Armed Forces participated in the Minesweeper Exercise (NTH) EUROPE as part of SNMCMG2. During its duration, complex operational scenarios were implemented, as below:

Naval Advanced Maneuver Exercises (Miscellaneous Exercise – MISCEX).

Naval training schools for increasing combat capability.

Combat team training with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) in Very Shallow Water (VSW).

Synthesis and exchange of surface and anti-aircraft warfare reconnaissance imagery.

Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations in a multi-threat environment.

Dealing with CBRN incidents (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense – CBRN).

Addressing asymmetric threats.

Dealing with drifting mine.
