From June 19 to July 28, children aged 6-12 will once again have the opportunity to spend two creative summer weeks in its sports centers Ruf, of Goudi and Grava, in the summer camps organized by the Municipality of Athens through the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization (OPANDA).

The submission of applications for those citizens of Athens who are interested, starts next week Monday, May 29 from 10 in the morning, while first come first served, based on the day and time of submission of valid applications.

The goal of the summer camps is to offer boys and girls the possibility of it sports and entertainment. Each activity is designed to encourage and reinforce values ​​such as teamwork, respect, responsibility, but also to help children develop their self-confidence, know what is proper sportsmanship and understand the basic principles of sports.

“Once again this year, we are welcoming hundreds of children from the center and neighborhoods of Athens to the summer camps of the municipality, taking care through OPANDA’s creative programs to offer them, in safe and modern sports facilities, what they most need at this time of year time: Free, pleasant and quality time”, says the mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, in his statement.

The summer camps will operate from Monday to Friday and hours 07:30 – 16:00, during the following periods:

  • First Period: 19/06/2023 to 30/06/2023 (Duration: 10 days)
  • Second Period: 03/07/2023 to 14/07/2023 (Duration: 10 days)
  • Third Period: 17/07/2023 to 28/07/2023 (Duration: 10 days)

Children have the opportunity to participate in various sports, which per Sports Center are as follows:

Sports Center in Goudi:

Swimming-Basketball-Tennis-Self-defense-Football-Volleyball-Traditional dances-Educational Game.

Sports Center in Roof:

Swimming-Basketball-Tennis-Football-Volleyball-Traditional dances-Educational Game.

Sports Center in Grava:

Athletics-Swimming-Football-Volleyball-Basketball-Traditional dances-Educational Game.

In all three sports centers, there will be daily – from 13.00 to 16.00 – creative employment and educational activity in covered areas.

The arrival of the children will be in the presence of a guardian from 07:30 to 08:15. The same as departure, from 13.00 to 16.00 every one hour (strictly).

Each sports center will welcome in total 220 children per period, while each child can participate in as many periods as they wish (from 1-3) per sports center. The facilities fully cover the activities and the five-day program of the summer camp. Also, the organization provides medical and insurance coverage to the participants.

A necessary condition for submitting applications is to have previously created an account on the page through which applications will be submitted electronically.

For participation in the Summer Camps of OPANDA, citizens or residents of the Municipality of Athens have priority until the 220 places per season in each sports center are filled and only if vacancies occur, they will be filled by citizens and residents outside the boundaries of the Municipality of Athens. The overall communication will be carried out via email and only for the applications that will be accepted, the relevant instructions will be sent via email for the days and times when the interested parties must present the necessary supporting documents to the offices of OPANDA (50 Academy), in order to complete the registration.

Required registration documents

  1. Responsible guardian declaration (picked up at the registration office).
  2. Document certifying the place of residence, where the guardian’s name will be written (DEKO account, mobile or landline telephone, lease contract) or certificate from the Municipality of Athens.
  3. Medical certificate from a pediatrician in which the dermatological examination will also be confirmed.
  4. Certificate of marital status.

All supporting documents must have been issued within 2023. Supporting documents from public agencies must be presented in legible photocopies and must have been issued within 2023. Otherwise, interested parties must provide the original certificates or legally certified photocopies.
