The owner of the company filed a complaint with the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office, when emails arrived from abroad and the senders claimed to have been hired for remote work
IT and communications systems management company appears to… hires staff for remote work around the world, without its executives knowing about it.
Its owner filed a complaint for fraud with the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office a few days ago when employees from all over the world sent emails to the company, asking for details on the terms of employment offered by strangers using the Greek company’s details.
The fear is that the “recruits”, after offering their work, will look for their wages without success, with the consequence that the company will be discredited around the world, while it plans to expand its activities abroad.
“Individuals unrelated to the company made job offers, falsely claiming to represent us,” says a message on the website of the Thessaloniki-based IT systems company. The emails that arrived a few days ago caused a stir. “From the content of these letters it is proven that these people have accepted some offer of remote work from some unknown to us who have nothing to do with our company, but present themselves as representing it, working for it and claiming that the offer of the work is done by our company as they use its brand”, notes the owner in his report to the Prosecutor’s Office. In fact, the report underlines that some received copies of cooperation contracts to sign. Senders of job postings using the Greek company’s details went so far as to enter into remote work deals for $20 an hour for the first 15 days, which is considered an apprenticeship period, and the salary rises to $30 an hour.
“All of this harms the company I represent,” Nikos Antoniadis, the defense attorney for the company’s owner, told Voria.gr. “After being certain, we expect the next move from those hired by the fraudsters to ask us for earnings,” he stressed.
Same logo
In research carried out by the representatives of the Greek company found that the face who signs the employment “contracts” is real and appears as the CEO of a Croatian company that has the same logo and is based in a city in Germany. However, according to the indictment, they use the address of the Greek company in its offices in Athens, the e-mail address and the logo. Attempts to trace him in Germany were unanswered as those who answered spoke on condition of anonymity to not provide details.
“Our mind goes everywhere. Our company has a high turnover, I guess they want to hurt us in this way. The profit that the fraudsters have, firstly, is direct with the work they do not pay for and the second is our own defamation at a time when our company is planning to expand abroad”, said Mr. Antoniadis, trying to interpret the reasons for using the details of the IT and telecommunications systems company it represents.
The company is asking anyone who perceives its name being used in this way to contact it.
Information indicates that the victims who have contacted to confirm the… working conditions have already been sent copies of the indictment submitted to the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office, clarifying that this is a fraud. With the appeal to justice, it was requested that those responsible be identified by the prosecution of electronic crime and held accountable.
