He was arrested yesterday, Thursday, June 1, 2023, in an area of Northern Greece, police officer who is accused of facilitating the exit of illegal aliens from the country, by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of Northern Greece
The investigation of the case was preceded by a complaint, the content of which was certified after a specialized investigation, using special investigative techniques.
His action
In particular, it emerged that the police officer taking advantage of his official capacity and position, at least since October 2022, had joined a criminal organization with the aim of illegally promoting foreigners to European Union countries, through an airport in Northern Greece.
In fact, in order to achieve the intended purpose, a member of the organization from Athens provided information to the police regarding the details and fake travel documents of the foreigners to be trafficked.
How was he arrested?
As part of the police operation, the police officer was arrested, after yesterday morning (June 1, 2023) he took actions to facilitate the air exit from the country using fake travel documents of two foreigners (an adult, who was also arrested, and a minor accompanying him) , an act which, however, was prevented before boarding by the police officers of the Internal Affairs Service.
What did the investigations find?
Investigations followed during which the following were found and seized:
- -2- fake passports,
- -84- tickets won totaling 73,047 euros,
- -3- mobile phones,
- laptop,
- -2- boarding passes (Boarding Pass),
- passbook,
- handwritten notes with sums of money and
- statute of a company based abroad and subject to commercial-financial services.
The case filed against the police officer and three other persons concerns – as the case may be – the offenses of forgery, bribery and bribery of an employee, abuse of power, breach of duty as well as breach of the legislation on foreigners.
Those arrested are taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
