End of one’s action 41-year-old pilgrim from Ierapetra that was targeting churches in the hinterland of Heraklion, the police officers of the Asterousia department put in their sights on Friday. This is an old acquaintance of theirs, as they had been involved in similar cases in the past.

The 41-year-old had “hit” three churches in villages of the municipality of Archanos-Asterousia, over a period of about a month. The first burglary took place in a church in the village of Paranymfoi where he caused damage to the entrance but did not find any money, just like in the second burglary in a church in the village of Tefeli, while in Loures an unknown amount of money was taken from the cash register.

The three burglaries were found out by the police and against the shrine a case was filed for theft, with which it was referred to the Prosecutor of First Instance of Heraklion. In fact, in the last year the perpetrator was accused of numerous burglaries in churches, cafes and coffee shops in Heraklion, but also in Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra where he lives, while he has also broken into churches in the Tower of Ilias!

At the same time, her police officers Security of Heraklion are looking for another unknown shrine, who broke into the church of Agios Georgios in the community of Gonies in Hersonissos last week and, according to the complaint filed by the vicar on Friday, broke open the safe and took all the money inside.
