As of yesterday, it became known through NGOs that approx 330 migrants were on an island in the middle of the river Evros.
According to the NGO, the groups of migrants reached an islet outside Nea Vyssa through Turkish territory, a common phenomenon in this period when the weather improves and the river water level drops.
Meanwhile yesterday was contact via phone of the Greek Foreign Minister Vassilis Kaskarelis with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, whom he congratulated on assuming his duties. During the conversation, the issue of irregular immigration was also discussed, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
