A church, the church of Agioi Taxiarches, located between Kalapodi and Exarchos, and an old residence were damaged by the 4.8 Richter earthquake in the area of ​​Atalanti yesterday afternoon.

Engineers from the Natural Disaster Management Directorate have already checked all the buildings in the wider area and have mainly identified cracks in old houses which they are examining, but without identifying any serious problems.

Today, for precautionary reasons, the kindergarten and the primary school in Exarchos of Lokris did not work, while based on the data collected by the presidents of the communities, no major problems are observed in residences and storage areas.

The teams of engineers in the area are examining all the houses one by one, while the Region of Sterea Hellas and the Municipality of Lokron remain on alert, they recommend calmness and note that residents should stay away from houses in which they notice cracks and visible damage until these are examined by the competent and specialized engineers.

Dozens of aftershocks have occurred in the area, but there has not yet been a major one after the 4.8 Richter quake.

The experts appear reassuring, saying that it is not connected to the well-known fault of Atalanti.
