The prosecution proposal for the 12 defendants
“I’m really sorry we have 12 young children that it was up to them to follow a better path in their lives and not the darkness. In an “unorthodox war” victory means condemnation”. With these words, the prosecutor of the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki concluded her marathon speech – which lasted 3 days – by recommending the conviction of all 12 defendants for the murder of Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends, according to the “blind” fan attack they carried out, in the early hours of February 1, 2022, in the area of Harilaou.
Depending on the case and the degree of participation in the execution of the wild fan episode, prosecutor Kyriaki Kliaba recommended to the judges to declare the 12 defendants guilty for the following actions:
- The 1st defendant, whom he described as the “mastermind” of the attack, for moral complicity in the intentional homicide of Alkis, moral complicity in the attempted intentional homicide of his two friends, moral complicity in the conspiracy to commit homicide and two counts of attempted murder, affray in the form of an assault resulting in death with a sports report and possession of an object likely to cause bodily harm.

“Drama sealed with death”
Documenting her proposal, the prosecutor stated that all the defendants “started to kill and succeeded, they participated with the same homicidal intention”, while commenting on the weapons they had with them (such as sickles, knives, “karabits”, collapsible glocks, etc.), commented that “with these you rush like a savage, like a beast to take away human lives”.
“Don’t be fooled by this mask – the real face is the one we saw in the videos of the case file,” said Ms. Kliaba, speaking of a “drama” directed by the 1st accused and the remaining 11 protagonists. “A drama sealed with death and applause – their own applause (because they themselves were celebrating their “achievement”, as he mentioned)” said Ms. Kliaba.
Statements of Alki’s parents
Commenting on the prosecutor’s proposal, Alki’s father, Aristidis Kampanos, said: “The prosecutor was stormy, shocking. She did her duty, her function, she was flawless.” For her part, the 19-year-old’s mother, Melina Kakoulidou, said: “Fortunately, there are enlightened prosecutors, like Ms. Kliaba, and maybe they will manage to stop impunity in Greece. No more impunity.”
