If there is no progress, we will be withdrawn as mediators from this process, the US Secretary of State warned
A new warning from the US State Department of the Ukrainian issue with the Foreign Minister re -threatening that the United States will be withdrawn from mediation if no progress in the negotiations is made.
“We are now at a point where specific proposals should be made by the two parties on how this conflict will end,” said State Department spokesman Tami Bruce, conveying a message from US Secretary of State Marko Rubio.
It is noted that Rubio had expressed a similar warning about talks on Ukraine on Sunday.
“How to move on from now on is now the President’s decision. If there is no progress, we will be withdrawn as mediators from this process, “Bruce said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Asked if the statement must be perceived as a rejection of the European and Ukrainian opposition, Bruce did not give a clear answer, repeating only its position.
She refused to say whether Rubio had further conversations with his European or Ukrainian counterparts. However, he revealed that he had spoken with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the weekend, on a Russian request, as well as with UK Foreign Minister David Lamia on Monday.
“Obviously, that doesn’t mean the door closes,” Bruce noted on Tuesday.
