Adventure at sea for four tourists in Crete on Sunday, as the boat they were on ran aground on a rocky shore, prompting an alarm.

The incident for which the Coast Guard was mobilized as well as private individuals with boats, took place in the sea area of ​​Agios Antonios (Chochlakia).

The boat in question was detached, towed and etcsailed safely to the port of Sisius, from a private boat, escorted by the patrol boat L.S. – EL.AKT., while its occupants were located on the coast, in good health.

The Port Authority of Agios Nikolaos prohibited the boat from sailing until the relevant seaworthiness certificate was presented, while no marine pollution was observed from the incident.

“The Port Authority of Agios Nikolaos was informed at noon today, by a private individual, about the grounding of the boat “ACHINOS” S.H. on a rocky shore. 1269, with four (04) foreigners on board, in the maritime area of ​​Agios Antonios (HOCHLAKIA) of the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos.
A patrol boat L.S. rushed to the area. – EL.AKT., the private boats “PETALIDA” T.A.N. 387 and “DIMITRA” S.H. 37 B as well as two (02) patrol vehicles L.S. – EL. AKT. from land. The boat in question was detached, towed and safely sailed to the port of “SISIOU”, by “PETALIDA”, escorted by the patrol vessel L.S. – EL.AKT., while its foreign passengers were located on the coast, in good health.
The Port Authority of Agios Nikolaos prohibited the sailing of the “ACHINOS” until the presentation of the relevant airworthiness certificate, while no marine pollution was observed since the incident.
