Fine amounting to 21,600 euros imposed by the Municipality of Athens on the KKE for polluting the main streets and squares of the city with campaign posters.

This is the second – in a row – fine imposed on a political party, after the one confirmed last Friday in the MeRA25, in the amount of 15,900 euros, for poster pollution with pre-election material, posters and leaflets.

Specifically, the municipal services found out illegally placed campaign posters of the Communist Party of Greece at Panepistium, Patision, Chalkokondili, Akadimias and Kaningos square.

It is recalled that at the initiative of the municipal authority, in the cleanliness regulation that was updated and approved in 2022 by City Councila provision for the imposition of a monetary fine is included: Based on this new regulation, the municipal services have the obligation not only to remove the illegally placed posters, but also to impose the relevant fine for arbitrary pollution – as was done in both cases.

At the start of the election campaign last May, the Municipality of Athens had called on all political parties participating in the elections to respect the prescribed regulation. In fact, in cases where a violation was found, the municipality had proceeded with recommendations to the parties in charge.

It is noted that since May the parties have been granted – free of charge – public spaces for the use of pre-election booths, as well as 450 canopy at stops for posting the election material.
