A prosecutorial investigation is being conducted for him death of a 7-year-old boy from Naoussa, who breathed his last last night in the Children’s ICU of the Hippocrates Hospital in Thessaloniki. Based on laboratory results, his death appears to have been caused by strep.

According to what became known, the head of the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office Dimitris Smyrnis instructed the criminal prosecution prosecutor to order preliminary examination to investigate any medical negligence. As part of the investigation, which was assigned to the Toumba – Triandria Police Department, it is being investigated whether the crime of manslaughter by negligence or exposure resulting in death by negligence was committed.

In his written order, the prosecutor requested that the results of the forensic examination be attached, as well as all the files from the hospitals where the 7-year-old was treated, as well as the statements of his parents.

The little boy was admitted last Saturday to the Naoussa Hospital with fever and symptoms of gastroenteritis.

The next day he worsened and was transferred to Thessaloniki, first to the Gennimatas hospital and then to Hippocrates, where despite the efforts of the doctors, he ended up. The 7-year-old suffered a seizure and despite the resuscitation efforts made by the doctors, he did not manage to keep himself alive.
