A young child lost his life, plunging the society of Lamia into grief
Tragic ending had the diversion of a two-wheeler that occurred on Friday in the city of Orchomenos, as its 19-year-old driver, who was seriously injured in the head, breathed his last on Tuesday morning in the ICU of the General Hospital of Lamia.
He was initially taken to the Livadeia General Hospital, where due to the seriousness of his condition it was deemed necessary to admit him to the ICU.
He was then admitted to the intensive care unit of the Lamia Hospital, where he ended up on Tuesday morning (13/6), leaving his family in mourning who were by his side all this time, hoping for a miracle.
The SETEPE expresses deep sorrow for the loss of the distributor sending his sincere condolences to his relatives.
As stated in a statement from the union, “another fellow distributor, this time a 19-year-old boy in Lamia, died in an “accident” during work hours when he was returning from an order. Another colleague of ours, who in the fight and “running” for the daily wage, breathed his last on the asphalt. Another colleague who, like many others, will not return to his family and loved ones.
It shows once again in the worst way how dangerous the work of distributors is. The lack of protective measures and logistical equipment, the meager wages and the zero compensation from the employers for the maintenance of the machines, the intensification and pressure of the work, the endless hours of work for a day’s wages, the work in heat, in rain, in frost , with snow, etc., is a “normality” that colleagues have to face every day in their shift”.
