The former Love Story, now called Love Cabaret, has its debut scheduled for June 23rd. Known as the center’s “after”, a nightclub that lasted until dawn, the address became a venue for erotic shows — which will take place in the early evening, with admission starting at R$30.

The famous dance floor was maintained and made way for the presentation space. On a circular stage, there will be shows inspired by striptease, voyeurism, BDSM (sex based on pleasure coming from pain) and shibari (Japanese erotic practice of tying with ropes).

A Lush motel is also planned for the top floor.

The presentations are curated by Mayumi Sato, researcher and director of Sexlog, a sex social network, alongside artist Indra Haretrava and drag queen Ikaro Kadoshi. All performances will be up to 15 minutes long, and the evening will be conducted by Indra Haretrava. With a pastor father, Haretrava started singing in church and understood himself as a transvestite on a trip to India.

The idea for the project came from the trio of entrepreneurs Facundo Guerra, Lily Scott and Cairê Aoas, and maintained the erotic tone of Love Story —now exploring the theme of sexual freedom. In the rehearsal of a presentation made for friends and employees, it was possible to see diversity among the artists, with transvestites, gay men and women with different bodies, like the dancer Jelly Bunny, who performs burlesque shows.

The house even changed its slogan from “House of all houses” to “House of all bodies”. “Our goal is to celebrate diversity, to be a place that gives prominence to people and cultures that live on the margins”, says Facundo.

According to the businessman, the female audience was 65% during advance ticket sales for the first two opening nights.

The architect and designer Maurício Arruda, known for the Decora program, on the GNT channel, signed the renovation of the space, which cost R$ 5 million – part of this amount was obtained by selling quotas to investors on a financing platform.

Around the stage, there are now chairs and tables. Capacity was reduced from 600 to 250 people. In the area behind the stage is the bar counter, with drinks signed by Michelly Rossi, from Bar dos Arcos.

The drinks menu uses puns referring to figures from culture and mythology linked to sex and love. The cups are decorated with small strings. Among the drinks, there is the Freya (Norse goddess of fertility, love and war), which has gin, pennyroyal cordial, dry vermouth and lemon juice (R$ 46). There are also non-alcoholic options.

The former bar space became the kitchen, with a menu prepared by Matheus Zanchini, from Borgo. You can choose starter, main course and dessert, with the same footprint as a restaurant. Zanchini opted for a lean menu with revisited classics like biro-biro rice, which in this version is a risotto with fresh peas, straw potatoes, toasted onions and grated eggs (R$68).

Tickets to enter Love Cabaret, which is in front of the Copan building, in downtown São Paulo, will cost between R$30 and R$360. While the old house was open “until the last customer”, it now opens from 7 pm to 1:00 am on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am on Saturdays.

Love Story filed for bankruptcy protection in August 2018 —it had a debt of almost BRL 1.7 million— and had its bankruptcy declared in 2021. In the same year, an auction worth BRL 5.5 million was held. initiated to reimburse creditors, but no one bid.

The trio of businessmen then offered BRL 200,000, an amount accepted by the judge overseeing the process.
