The number of fraud cases recorded this past weekend exceeds the fingers of one hand. With “good morning” bank employees received phone calls from their customers, who later realized that they had fallen victim to scams and were looking for a way to get their money back.

According to Cretalive’s information, in the last 24 hours in Heraklion cases of fraudsters calling citizens and sometimes saying they are from ELTA and about to deliver a package and other times that they are calling from PPC and about to credit the Power Pass.

The sequel, more or less familiar: They are informed that they will be sent a link in a message and “all they have to do is click and follow the instructions”. Somehow, unsuspecting citizens end up with …lighter accounts and in despair, as bank records show that the bank account holder himself has done the money transfer, so it’s unreimbursed money.

As noted, however, scammers do not “discriminate”. They call and cast “nets” on old people as well as young people, on people with low, medium or even high education, which shows that these cases do not only concern “some”, but everyone!

All citizens are asked to be particularly careful in the phone calls they receive, in the information they provide in the phone calls even if the interlocutor claims to be known to them, and of course in no case do we “click” on links we receive in our email or in sms.
