It was investigated by the Prosecution of Crimes Against Life of the Attica Security Agency homicide with victim 30-year-old foreigner, of Albanian citizenship, which had taken place in the early hours of May 24, 2023 in the area of Omonia, in the center of Athens.

For the case, a case file was filed against six people (three Afghans, two Greeks and a Bangladeshi national), five of whom were identified and arrested, based on arrest warrants issued against them.

According to the data of the police investigation, the crime was committed for a trivial reason namely for a misunderstanding, between the victim, when he was entering a hotel with a girl and one of the perpetrators.

The two men exchanged heavy words and soon came to blows. The other five defendants rushed to help the perpetrator and the 30-year-old tried to run away, but they pursued him and beat him mercilessly with knives, bats and other objects, as a result of which he was seriously injured.

The 30-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

It is noted that, according to the police, both the victim and all the perpetrators have engaged the authorities for thefts, robberies, possession of weapons, disobedience, and other offenses, but the episode does not seem to be related to their activities.

Evidence and data collected from the crime scene, combined with witness statements, were used to investigate the case.

The case filed against them was submitted to the Athens District Attorney, who referred the case to an investigator, while arrest warrants were issued against them, pursuant to which they were arrested.

The arrested were taken to the Criminal Enforcement Prosecutor.
