Tragedy occurred at the Chania hospital when a 36-year-old woman died shortly after the birth of her child.

According to Cretalive information, the unfortunate woman was from Chania. On Monday, she gave birth to her first child naturally after 12-14 hours of waiting, while she was then admitted to the ICU, where she ended up a few hours later after complications. Her family is understandably in a state of shock after this tragic development, with some information even stating that a relative of hers – who was also a doctor – suffered a heart attack.

It is worth noting that the baby was taken for hospitalization in Heraklion, specifically to the Neonatal Unit at Venizelio Hospital.

According to information, a necropsy was carried out today, but it did not shed light on the causes of death of the unfortunate woman, as no macroscopic finding was found, as the information states, while the results of the histological examinations are awaited. The autopsy was performed by the Coroner of Crete, Mr. Antonis Papadomanolakis, while the family of the unfortunate girl has appointed forensics as a technical consultant.

According to information and in order to investigate the circumstances of the unspeakable tragedy, an urgent Sworn Administrative Examination has been ordered.
