With the apology of the partner, the circle of 22 accused for the ring of sex trafficking of women from Latin America was closed
Another alleged member of the Latin American women’s trafficking ring has been remanded in custody todayafter “Marina” yesterday, the 71 years old who allegedly rented brothels in Athens and who is also allegedly involved in the case of the rape of the 12-year-old girl from Colonos.
According to ERT, in agreement between the investigator and the prosecutor, he was remanded in custody the partner of 71-year-old “Marina”.
The 57-year-old accused allegedly denies the accusations of human trafficking, developing similar arguments with his partner to the investigator. The couple claims that they legally operated brothels in the center of Athens, which they rented out and that the women worked there voluntarily.
With the companion’s apology the circle of 22 defendants was closed for the trafficking circuit.
Of the 22, four have been remanded in custody, including the mastermind of the ring and his wife.
A week ago, the police dismantled a women’s trafficking ring, rescuing 51 women, 48 of whom came from Colombia, 2 from Venezuela and 1 from Albania.
The authorities arrested 22 people in Athens and Thessaloniki, of which 11 were members of the criminal organization and 11 people who worked as staff in the brothels.
