He persuaded patients to stop their treatment and follow his with supposed peptides and stem cells, causing some of them to die
Free on probation and cash bail the 66-year-old physiotherapist accused, together with a 72-year-old German doctor, of the deaths of patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis– usually at the final stage, whom they persuaded to stop conventional medication that they were following and to implement a supposedly effective treatment with supposed peptides and stem cells.
The case came to light last January following an investigation by the Thessaloniki Organized Crime Prosecution, while the physical therapist (local) and his accomplice doctor were charged -among other things- for manslaughter with possible intent, serially , fraud of more than 1.1 million euros and money laundering.
The case file appears to include at least 18 patients – victimsof which the seven seem to have ended.
Apologizing to the Investigator, the accused physiotherapist he denied the grave acts attributed to him, renouncing his own responsibilities. He allegedly “threw” everything at the German doctor, stressing that he was taking over the therapeutic part and administering the treatments, with the 66-year-old taking over the patients’ physiotherapy.
The judicial officer, with the consent of the prosecutor, decided that he should be released with the imposition of restrictive conditions – in this case, a ban on leaving the country and a personal appearance at a police station, as well as a monetary guarantee amounting to 20,000 euros.
As it became known during the presentation of the case by EL.AS., the two defendants appealed to famous persons from the international artistic, political and sports world who allegedly used, with spectacular results, the proposed treatment for the treatment of sclerosis against joke. Their alleged activity seems to have started at least since 2009 and extended throughout Greece.
Patients with end-stage multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions seem to have been persuaded to undergo this treatment, discontinuing the medication they had been following until then, resulting in a worsening of their health.
According to what the Police announced, the two defendants administered injections that were vials of amino acids, while the alleged stem cell injections appear to have been ampoules of glucose with water. Depending on the financial capacity of the sufferers, the vials were charged from 200 to 300 euros each, while the injections with the so-called stem cells cost from 10,000 to 25,000 euros, per dose.
The accused doctor has so far not been located and is believed to have fled to South Africa.
