In fact, in anticipation of the first major heatwave that will hit the country, license holders are hastening their vacations and leaving the capital one after another.

In the port of Piraeus in the first week of July, traffic is particularly high with occupancy levels reaching 100/100, as according to data from the Coast Guard, 128 ships with 101,176 passengers, 15,686 vehicles left for the islands of the Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete. 4112 trucks and 2204 two-wheelers.

As for the favorite destination of many Athenians, Argosaronicos, there is also increased traffic as from July 1-6 there were 211 routes that transported 40,786 passengers to the popular island destinations.

For Dodecanese and Cyclades, 11,135 passengers departed from the port of Lavrio.

Traffic has also increased on the road network, as in the first week of July, 245,000 vehicles passed through the Elefsina tollbooth heading towards Peloponnese.

However, according to the traffic police, no problems are observed, while special road safety measures have been planned for the safe movement of citizens and the prevention of traffic accidents.
