The Coast Guard released a video-document from the moment of the rescue of 8 people from the speedboat that was found today, Saturday, semi-submerged in a submerged condition in the sea area of ​​Piraeus – Aegina.

Two Coast Guard patrol boats as well as a passenger ship went to the area, where they located the speedboat. The occupants were then picked up by a patrol boat and taken safely to Zeas Marina in Piraeus.

The Port Authorities of Piraeus and Aegina were informed this morning by the Unified Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, about an incident of water inflow of a high-speed vessel of the Greek flag, with 08 passengers (05 adults and 03 minors) in the sea area between Piraeus and n. Aegina.

Under the coordination of the E.K.S.ED./LS-EL.AKT., two LS-EL.AKT. patrol boats went to the area, as well as the E/P-T/R “GIORGIS II” N.P. 9356, where they found the above speedboat semi-submerged in a submerged state. Afterwards, its occupants were rounded up by a LS-EL.AKT patrol boat. and were safely transported to the Zeas Piraeus marina.

The speedboat in question sailed with the assistance of the E/P-T/R “GIORGIS II”, in the port of Leontio, Aegina and was then pulled ashore.

No injuries were caused by the incident and no marine pollution was observed, while the sailing of the above speedboat was prohibited until a certificate of airworthiness was presented.

A preliminary investigation is carried out by the 5th Zeas Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
