Seven air-conditioned rooms open in the neighborhoods of Athens – Merimna and for the city’s homeless
Seven specially designed air-conditioned areas for the accommodation and protection of vulnerable social groups from extreme weather phenomena (very high temperatures – heat wave) is being put into operation from tomorrow, Tuesday, July 11, by the Municipality of Athens.
The air-conditioned areas, which will operate from 08.00 am to 08.00 pm, are as follows:

To protect the homeless from the high temperatures, the groups Streetwork of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (KYA.A.), which consists of social workers, nurses and psychologists, will continue their daily work throughout the heatwave, operating on the street with six shifts in the morning and evening, offering full meals, cold water bottles and basic necessities.
At the same time, they will be informed about the air-conditioned rooms of the Municipality of Athens and the cool spots of the city, providing useful information for their protection from the heat.

Special care there is also for the stray animals of the city. The Municipality of Athens, having their care and protection as a priority, has placed 150 watering cans in the neighborhoods of the capital, so that our four-legged friends can cool off throughout the heat.
